Celebrating freedom since 1898
“I am a Filipino. In my blood runs the immortal seed of heroes – seed that flowered down the centuries in deeds of courage and defiance. The seed I bear within me is an immortal seed. It is the mark of my manhood, the symbol of dignity as a human being… It is the insigne of my race, and my generation is but a stage in the unending search of my people for freedom and happiness.”
The above written quote is an excerpt from the famous essay ‘I am a Filipino’ authored by Carlos P. Romulo. It’s a very inspiring message that reminds us all the significance of June 12, 1898 in the history of our race. It may have been a century old since this important day in history was delivered, but we should not forget that this important event is the mark of our identity, ideology and independence.
We are Filipinos, born of freedom and limitless right in our native soil; this should always be realized from ourselves to our next generation- forever.
